Thomaston-Upson School System Superintendent Dr. Larry Derico, winner of the GA School Superintendent's Association's (GSSA) 2024 Trailblazer Award, is featured on the GSSA homepage at https://www.gssaweb.org. The Marvin E. Lewis Sr. Trailblazer Award recognizes a minority superintendent in the State of Georgia who has broken barriers of diversity and/or equity; who provides experiences and perspectives which increase the productivity of all students through a diverse perspective; who serves all children from all races, creeds, and religions; who demonstrates the ability to teach, mentor, guide, and facilitate staff; who provides advocacy for and leads in the process of equitable and equal education for all students; who advocates for public education and supports leadership development in the education profession. Derico was presented with the award at the GSSA Spring Bootstraps Conference in Savannah, Georgia. #ULProud
